The Victorious Mindset: Living From Victory, Not For It
Sep 03, 2024
One of the most freeing revelations I’ve had is the understanding that we live from a place of victory, not for it. It’s a shift in mindset that changes how we approach life, ministry, relationships, and even our dreams. The idea that we’re already seated in heavenly places with Christ (Ephesians 2:6) completely changes the way we engage with the challenges and circumstances that come our way.
I’ll never forget a pivotal moment that solidified this truth in my life. A few years ago, I was praying about provision for my family. I had a vision of Jesus rolling dice, playing Yahtzee. He rolled a 7, 5, and 2, and it was clear to me: provision was coming. In that moment, God reminded me that He’s not scrambling to figure out how to meet our needs—He already knows, and He’s already worked it out. I wasn’t praying from a place of lack; I was partnering with His already-finished work, expecting provision to manifest.
Living from Victory, Not for It
This concept of living from victory reminds me of a story from the Bible. In the book of Joshua, we read about the Israelites preparing to take Jericho. Now, they didn’t have to fight for victory in the traditional sense. God had already promised them the city. All they needed to do was obey His instructions, march around the city, and let out a shout of praise. And when they did, the walls came down (Joshua 6).
What strikes me about this story is that the victory was already theirs—they just had to walk it out. They didn’t win the battle through might or strategy; it was their trust in God’s word and their obedience that brought the victory into the physical realm. This is what it means to live from a place of victory. You don’t fight for what’s already yours; you walk it out, trusting that God’s promises are yes and amen.
Personal Testimonies of Victory
Another personal example of living from victory was when I launched my E2:6 mentorship group. I knew God had given me a vision to empower people, helping them hear God for themselves and others. But stepping out to start the group felt overwhelming. There were moments I doubted—would anyone sign up? Would I be able to sustain it?
But I remembered that I’m not striving for success—I’m stepping into a promise that’s already been given. The victory is already sealed. So instead of letting fear hold me back, I moved forward with confidence, knowing that God had already laid the groundwork. Fast forward to today, and the group is growing, lives are being changed, and people are stepping into the fullness of who God created them to be.
Shifting Your Mindset
Here’s the key: the moment we grasp that we’re seated in heavenly places, it shifts our entire perspective. We’re no longer fighting battles from a place of fear, anxiety, or striving. We’re standing in a position of authority, resting in the finished work of Christ. It’s not about “if” we’ll win the battle, but about “how” we’ll partner with God to bring that victory into the natural.
We see this truth woven throughout the New Testament. In Colossians 2:15, Paul tells us that Jesus disarmed the powers and authorities and made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. The victory has already been won; our role is to live in the reality of it, declaring and enforcing what’s already been done.
Practical Steps to Living From Victory
-
Renew your mind: The first step to living from victory is to renew your mind daily with the truth of who you are in Christ. Meditate on scriptures that remind you of your position in Him.
-
Speak declarations: Use your words to declare God’s promises over your life. I often create declarations based on scripture to remind myself of the truth. For example, “I am seated in heavenly places with Christ, far above every challenge and circumstance.”
-
Step out in faith: Living from victory doesn’t mean life will be challenge-free, but it does mean you approach challenges with the confidence that the outcome is already secured. Take bold steps, knowing that you’re walking in the victory Jesus already won.
-
Praise in advance: Just like the Israelites marched around Jericho, sometimes the key to victory is praise. Praise God not just for what He’s going to do, but for what He’s already done, even if you haven’t seen it in the natural yet.
Conclusion
When you begin to live from a place of victory, you’re no longer striving. You’re resting in the truth of what Christ has already done. This isn’t just a feel-good idea; it’s a radical shift that changes how you approach every area of your life. Whether it’s provision, relationships, or dreams, remember—you’re already victorious in Christ. The battle is won; now you get to walk out that victory in faith.
Let’s partner with heaven and watch the walls of Jericho fall in our own lives. You are seated in heavenly places—so live like it!
